Use 20-10-20 ratio fertilizer
Finding the right fertilizer is essential for your plants. The N-P-K-ratio is the percentage the product contains by volume of Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), and Potassium (K).
A complete fertilizer is one that contains all three nutrients. Using a complete fertilizer for all plants seems alright, but it isn’t always the best choice. Some plants only need extra phosphorus nutrients, potassium nutrients or nitrogen nutrients.
Each nutrient provides its own supplements to the plant. Nitrogen is a building block of amino acids, the plant enzymes, its DNA and chlorophyll. Sufficient levels of nitrogen stimulate plant growth and reproduction, most prominently, growth of foliage. Phosphorus is essential for photosynthesis, transferring genetic material from one generation to the next and movement of nutrients within the cells. Lastly, Potassium regulates water, aids in the photosynthesis process, serves as an activation element for plant enzymes and is necessary for building proteins.

Details About This Plant:
The Alocasia Polly is a hybrid and can grow about two and a half feet tall and wide when at its medium size. The plant is a hybrid of the Alocasia longiloba and Alocasia sanderiana and is commonly incorrectly referred to as the Alocasia x amazonica. The plant has brown stems and deep green leaves highlighted by thick white veins that go through the middle and around the leaves in a winding fashion.
Shields, Arrows, and Elephant Ears
Our NYC and NJ customers love the odd shapes and sizes that develop from the medium Alocasia Polly leaves. The leaf’s striking Sacramento hues, lime accents, and deep, purple undertones paired together with the long, pointed, wavy shape give them the appearance of an arrowhead or shield. Still, others think the leaves resemble elephant ears, sometimes dubbing the Alocasia the Elephant Ear plant. Another name based on the unique leaf-shape is the African Mask.
Thrives in Tropical Conditions
Native to the subtropics of Asia and Australia, Polly loves warmer temps and thrives in temperatures of between 60- and 80-degrees Fahrenheit. When continually exposed to lower temperatures, the plant may grow dormant and lose some or all of its leaves. Keep the plant away from drafts to promote efficient growth. Under optimal humid conditions during the warmer months of the year, your alocasia may bud a new leaf each week.
Amazonica
This Maroon-hued beauty was once primarily known as the Alocasia Amazonica until a smaller version of it was found. This version was then dubbed ‘Poly’ until it grew in popularity and commercial value and was changed to ‘Polly’ for marketing purposes.

The plant was beautiful when it came in but unfortunately due to the cold weather and the travel shock my plant took a turn for the worse and didn't make it. They graciously offered me a replacement plant.
